The Safe and Effective Sequence
The
function of sterilization is to ensure that cross infection does not
occur during treatments. In order to achieve complete sterilization
it is important that all organic matter is removed from instruments.

Micro-organisms
are thus not protected from heat-kill in an insulating cocoon of contamination.
An autoclave is designed to sterilise instruments not to wash them.
If instruments are not thoroughly clened first, the efficiency of
the sterilization process may be compromised.
Hand washing of Instruments may result in the debris and contamination
being moved into more inaccessible areas. Micro-organisms cannot be
seen by the naked eye and can be found in serrated edges

Desderman
N
Desderman N is an alcohol-based handrub designed for hygienic
or sergical hand disinfection. Hygienic hand disinfection should be
performed before all routine procedures.
Composition
100g of Desderman N contains 78.2g ethanol (95.3%), 0.1g 2-biphenylol,
polyvidon 30, emollients and humectants.
Efficiency
Desderman N rapidly inactivates a broad spectrum of micro-organisms
including gram positive and gram negative bacteria - as well as TB
Bacillus, fungi and viruses including Adeno Virus, Hepititis A, B
and C, HIV, Polio, Vaccina and Rota Viruses.
Desderman N contains 2-biphenylol, which provides a progressively
greater reduction in the bacterial count with frequent repeated use,
and may reduce the build up of bacteria on hands during treatments.
Test have shown mean reductions of viable bacterial counts of 99.99%
with one application. |

AF
During clinical procedures surfaces around the work area
become contaminated with body fluids.
Those surfaces should be cleaned and disinfected after each procedure.
Mikrozoid AF is an effective disinfectant with proven rapid activity
- ideal for use on contaminated surfaces between patients.
Composition
100g of Mikrozoid AF contains 35g 1-propanol, 25g ethanol (94%), a
wetting agent and perfume.

FF
Gigasept FF is a broad-spectrum sterilising/disinfectant

which cannot be sterilised by autoclaving e.g. anaesthetic equipment
and fibreoptics, rubber items and plastics (except perspex)
Composition
100g of Gigasept FF contains 11g succindialdehyde, 3g dimethoxytetrahydrofuran,
methanol, ethanol, detergents and a corrosion inhibitor. Giggasept
FF is formaldehyde free.

Rotasept
Rotasept is a ready to use disinfectant and cleaner for
burs, cutters, grinders, finishers, brushes and polishers. Rotasept
can be used with or without the use of an ultrasonic bath and has
been specifically designed to ensure excellent material compatibility.
Composition
Rotasept contains 1.6g potassium hydroxide, 10g 2-propanol, 0.1g 2-ethylhexanol
